Bradburys of Exeter recently played host to the launch of Paola Royal’s Fit Food Cookery School.
Paola Royal is a physiotherapist with an extensive medical background of over 30 years. She trained and worked in Switzerland as an Akupunkt massage therapist, where she learnt how to include diet as part of the healing process. Paola is passionate about empowering others to improve their health through mind-set, exercise and nutrition. She came to realise that many people want to learn new ways of eating well, gather healthy recipes that fit into their busy lives and enjoy ongoing support in maintaining this new way of cooking and eating, and so, Fit Food classes were born.
Paola’s mission is to enable participants to have fun preparing and eating healthy meals, together. All meals are prepared in under half an hour with delicious, fresh, local organic foods, mainly from her local farm, Shillingford Organics. All recipes are vegetarian and Paola offers some lovely vegan, sugar-free desserts.
The event proved very popular and was a great success. Guests were treated to refreshments, including a peach, ginger and lemon fizz and a watermelon smoothie, and Paola even offered homemade ginger and cashew nut slices, pecan balls, banana bread and sweet potato bread, all followed by delicious peanut butter and chocolate slices.
Bradburys of Exeter also demonstrated the benefits of using steam cooking in our Miele steam combination oven to make two soups; green pea, baby gem and courgette, and curried parsnip. These were complemented wonderfully with carrot and beetroot vegetable crisps made overnight in our Miele warming drawer.
We were joined by Martin from Shillingford Organics, who brought along a wonderful array of fresh, colourful vegetables and gave an informative and interesting talk on buying local, organic vegetables. Shillingford Organics also generously gave a large vegetable box to the lucky winner of our raffle.
The Fit Food Cookery School courses take place in the Bradburys of Exeter fabulous ALNO kitchen showroom on Tuesday evenings, starting from September. For more information and to book your place, please contact Paola Royal at email@example.com / 07715310920, or visit the website here.
