Design Trend Forecast 2018

29th Dec 2017

As the new year approaches, we thought we would take a look at the popular colour trends forecast for 2018 in interiors and kitchen design.

Interior trends add interest and creativity to your room scheme, but can tire quickly, so it’s important to choose colours and styles that you love and will want in your home for years to come. A new kitchen can be a big investment and something you won’t change for a long time, so try to create a design that will stand the test of time; a good designer can help you with this. You can then add in colours and trends you love with accents, accessories, and lighting.

The use of gold, rose gold, copper, bronze and brass is a growing trend that we love and it’s set to rise in popularity with the introduction of pearl and iridescent materials being used. These tones look stylish and contemporary, they reflect light around the room and can add warmth to your colour scheme. A good way to introduce this trend is through lighting, taps, handles or splash backs.

Deep Colours

Pantone have released their Colour of the Year 2018 as Ultra Violet, a dramatic colour that they see as “inventive and imaginative”. Ultra Violet may be too strong for some, so variants on this tone will be popular. People wanting to make a statement with their interiors are adding darker colours of plum, navy and black. These splash backs from Decoglaze are a great way to incorporate colours you love into your design.

Two Tone Cabinets

Using two different colours from a range for your kitchen cabinets allows you to add colour without being too bold and helps zone areas of an open-plan room. You could opt for an on-trend indigo blue for your island or base cabinets and white for the wall cabinets. This style helps to personalise your space and we will see much more of it in the years to come.

Adding texture and natural materials to your room scheme gives a feel of quality and authenticity. Materials such as wood, concrete, and marble are used alongside muted, warm colour tones to add layers and depth. Mixing these different textures within a room design is set to be a big trend for 2018.
